How Does It Work?

Diesel fuel entrains air, primarily introduced by fuel sloshing in fuel tanks, and also by vapor caused by negative pressure and/or restrictions in the fuel supply lines and filters between the fuel tank and fuel injection system. When this entrained air makes its way into the fuel injection system, the results are a loss of throttle response, reduction in power, reduced fuel economy, rough idle, increased noxious emissions, and increased wear on fuel injectors. The primary purpose of the AirDog® diesel fuel systems is to remove the entrained air from diesel fuel, as a pre-combustion solution, before the air can enter the injection system, thereby restoring optimal diesel fuel system performance, sending a supply of pure fuel, with no air or other contaminants, to the engine while maintaining net positive pressure to the engine fuel pump to prevent cavitation and the formation of vapor.

The dual-port design feeds the gerotor from both sides, which hydraulically balances the outer gear. These special features provide the quietest and most durable fuel pumps on the market. The dash-mounted indicator light, lets you know when to change the filter without waste of filter life or fuel economy. No more guessing! The stainless steel adjustable pressure regulator is part of the demand flow system that recycles the fuel not needed by the engine back to the water separator and through the filter for continuous multi-pass filtration.

The patented AirDog® is the only fuel air separation system with third-party verified positive air separation. The patented air bleed port vents the separated air and vapor from the fuel with a barely measurable pressure drop or loss of flow. The AirDog® air and vapor return line connects to the engine return line with engine specific fittings, making installation quick, easy, and cost-effective.

The AirDog®ll, designed to operate at flows and pressures beyond the maximum requirements of the engine, receives fuel under vacuum from the fuel tank containing entrained air/vapor, particulate contaminates and unknown quantities of water. The fuel passes through the water separator which removes the large particulate contaminates that could damage or jam the gerotor fuel pump. The fuel, with only entrained air/vapor and tiny particulate contaminates remaining, enters the fuel pump.

The fuel, under positive pressure flow, enters the fuel filter. As the fuel passes through the filter media and remaining particulate contaminates are caught and contained, the entrained air/vapor is also separated. Through the POSITIVE FUEL AIR SEPARATION FEATURES of the PATENTED FUEL PREPORATOR® the separated air/vapor is discharged from the filter and back to the fuel tank through the Primary Air/Vapor Discharge Port.

The fuel passing through the filter media, free of contaminates & power robbing air/vapor and at pressures and flows always able to meet the needs of the engine, exits the fuel filter through two passageways. First. the fuel for the engine passes into the fuel pickup tube and on to the engine. Then, the excess fuel not needed by the engine recycles internally through the pressure regulator back to the Water Separator.

What’s in the kit?

This kit includes (1) AirDog® FPII-150 4G Demand Flow System, (1) FF200-MG-6 Fuel Filter, (1) WS200-WS Water Separator, (1) 5E-2-010 Wiring Harness with Indicator Light, (2)Mounting Brackets with Hardware, 30 Feet of ½” DOT Fuel Line, and (1) Non-Engine-Specific (Universal) Fitting Kit (adaptable to most applications)

FRRP150 supports up to 800 HP with the big line kit and fittings to provide a higher volume of fuel to the injection pump. The AirDog® 150 uses a 3000 r.p.m. motor and has a flow rate of 150 gallons per hour. Aside from having the adjustable regulator, the pump and base assembly have a dual inlet design allowing more fuel to flow into the gerotor—this allows the pump to increase volume without having to work any harder. The base on the AirDog ® II redirects fuel through passageways after being pressurized; this allows less fuel to be returned to the tank and more fuel to be held in the filters for a true “On Demand” system. An intermediate shaft is also incorporated to completely separate the electric motor from fuel path along with additional bearings to reduce drag and increase reliability and lifespan of the AirDog ® II 4G.
